On Wednesday, a "dense fog" covered Delhi for the first time this season, reducing visibility to nil at the Delhi airport, even as calm winds lingered across the city, preventing pollutant dispersion and lowering air quality to the upper end of the "very poor" category.

As per a Hindustan Times report, At 8 a.m., the average Air Quality Index (AQI) was 361 (extremely poor), compared to 334 at 4 p.m. on Tuesday. Only Ayanagar out of the 36 monitoring sites had a severe average AQI of 417 at 8 a.m. Lodhi Road (268) and Aurobindo Marg (275) have "poor" air quality. Overall, this was the 15th consecutive day with "very poor" air quality.
According to officials from the India Meteorological Department (IMD), visibility at Delhi International Airport (Palam) was 100 metres at 6am before dropping to zero at 8:30 am.
Not just Delhi-NCR but air quality remained a concern across the Indo-Gangetic Plains on Wednesday, with three Bihar cities, two Haryana cities, and Chandigarh ranking among the country's top ten polluted cities.
The situation in neighbouring Pakistan is frightening, with the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) warning of health concerns to 11 million children in Pakistan's eastern Punjab province as air pollution worsens.
