Yes, we all wrapped ourselves in our warm clothes but true winter arrives when the temperature is lower than 10 degrees and our bodies are naturally craving our favorite Old Monk with water. Old Monk has an incredible taste and at such a stellar cheap price, it's not just a drink but a nice, warm hug in a glass.
And while Old Monk with water is legendary, it doesn't hurt to whip up some cocktails using Old Monk. We promise these are so utterly delicious that you and your guests won't be going back for seconds but thirds and fourths.
1. Old Monk Sangria.
Who says sangria is just enjoyed with red wine? Go ahead add some old monk and taste the magic.
What you'll need: 60 ml red wine, 30 ml Old Monk, 20 ml lime juice, 20 ml pomegranate juice.
Method: Mix all ingredients in an ice-filled shaker. Shake and serve in a hurricane glass!
2. Bumbo.
This cocktail is proof that rum and cranberry juice are a pairing that's made in heaven.
What you'll need: 50 ml Old Monk, 30 ml lemon juice, 20 ml cranberry juice, ? tsp nutmeg powder.
Method: In a shaker, add ice and mix all the ingredients in their specified quantities. Voila! you have an utterly delicious cocktail.
3. Monk's Coffee.
Yes, Old Monk is an incredible rum that goes really well with coffee liqueur.
What you'll need: 45 ml Old Monk, 15 ml coffee liqueur.
Method: In an old-fashioned glass, add cubes of ice along with the specified quantities of rum and coffee liqueur. Stir and top it off with coffee beans.
4. Rum sling.
A sophisticated cocktail, Rum Sling is super popular among rum drinkers.
What you'll need: 30 ml Bacardi, 30 ml Old Monk, 60 ml orange juice, 15 ml lime juice.
Method: In a tall glass, just mix all the ingredients together, stir it well and finish it off with candied orange peels.
5. Rum and coke with a spin!
Rum and coke is my absolute favourite but who knew this sweet drink can be made a whole lot of sweeter? Try it now!
What you'll need: 60 ml Old Monk, 15 ml lemon juice, 15 ml sugar syrup and 200 ml of coke.
Method: In a cocktail shaker, mix sugar syrup and lemon juice. In another glass, fix yourself an old monk with coke and drizzle the sugar and lemon juice syrup over your drink. Yes, you can thank us later!
6. Hot Chocolate Rum.
No, even we had no idea this existed. But you need to try it now!
What you'll need: 30 ml Old Monk, 150 ml hot cocoa, 1 tbsp whipped cream, 1 tsp sugar.
Method: Mix rum with hot cocoa in a coffee mug. Top it off with whipped cream, marshmallows and sugar to taste. And you have a boozy dessert drink ready!
7. Lick my peach!
For all those who think the winter is dreadful, we are giving you a sip of summer in the form of this peach cocktail.
What you'll need: 45 ml Old Monk, 10 ml peach syrup, 10 ml lime juice.
Method: Beyond how great it tastes, we love how easy it is to make this cocktail. Just shake all these ingredients in a shaker and serve it in a tall glass. Don't forget to add an apple or peach slice on the side of the glass.
