Buddy, First Pet Dog That Tested Positive For Coronavirus Dies In New York
A German shepherd, 'Buddy', which was the first confirmed case of the novel coronavirus infection in a pet dog in the US has died here, according to a report.
In a tragic incident from the US, a dog named Buddy who tested positive for coronavirus has succumbed to the the deadly infection.

The German Shepherd dog buddy was the first confirmed case of the novel coronavirus infection in the U.S. In the month of June, the United States of Agriculture¡¯s -USDA National Veterinary Services Laboratories had announced that the dog being the first pet dog testing positive for the virus SARS COV 2 behind the COVID-19 pandemic.
The dog was a seven year old German Shepherd who fell sick in mid-April and died on July 11 after the dog began vomiting blood clots, urinating blood and was unable to walk as well, as reported by the National Geographic magazine.
Buddy was showing signs as one of its owners, Robert Mahoney had tested positive for COVID-19 and another one had consistent symptoms of the virus.
The owner told National Geographic that Buddy developed breathing problems in mid-April after Manhoney had been sick with the novel coronavirus for several weeks.

According to the report, the dog¡¯s health declined steadily after he developed breathing problems and thick nasal mucus in April and later he was euthanized on July 11 after he started vomiting blood clots.
While it is unknown whether the SARS-Cov -2 virus played a vital role in Buddy¡¯s death, the blood test of the dog indicated that the dog may have had lymphoma which is a cancer of the immune system.
According to the USDA, currently there is no evidence about animals playing a significant role in spreading coronavirus.
However, the novel coronavirus may spread from people to animals in some situations. The evidence for this was published in May in the Journal Nature, showing evidence of infection with the virus.
