Tips for competitive examination prep
During his third year of college, Tyagi made the decision to prepare for the GATE exam. The following year, he achieved an All India Rank (AIR) of 06.
He attributes his success to three key factors: "Discipline. Consistency. No distraction."
Tyagi has now shared his insights and tips on X to assist aspirants in effectively navigating their preparation journey for competitive examinations, drawing from his own experiences during his IIT preparation days.
Here are the tips he shared:
Mental contrasting
Tyagi stressed the significance of 'mental contrasting' as his first tip. He urged aspirants to imagine how their lives would transform after reaching their goals, drawing inspiration from success stories.
This method motivates and propels aspirants towards their objectives by allowing them to visualise the benefits of their diligent efforts.
Optimise your environment
Identify what pulls your attention away from your objectives. Is it social media, friends, or certain habits?
Eliminate all distractions to concentrate entirely on your goals.
Believe in yourself
Reflect on your past achievements. Identify moments in your life when you've succeeded before and remember that if you have done it once, you can do it again.
Turn inward
If you ever feel distracted or stressed, focus on yourself. Instead of pointing fingers, ask yourself, "What can I do now?"
Another suggestion could be included in this list, especially for Holi, as mentioned by a commenter: ¡°Festivals are hardest for UPSC aspirants. It reminds them their sacrifices. Bombarded with questions by relatives. But, at the same time, festivals are source of happiness in otherwise dull aspirant life.¡±
