14,000 Personnel, Airports On High Alert: Delhi Police Security Plan For Republic Day
Special CP (Law and Order, Zone 2) Madhup Tiwari disclosed additional details of the security plan for Republic Day in Delhi. The New Delhi district has been intricately divided into 28 zones, ensuring sufficient deployment of security personnel in each zone.
Ahead of the Republic Day parade, a comprehensive security plan has been put in place in Delhi. Approximately 14,000 security personnel will be deployed around Kartavya Path, where the parade will take place, to ensure the safety of the 77,000 invitees.

Security measures for R-day
Special Commissioner (Security) Deepender Pathak emphasised the implementation of a professional, robust, and flawless security arrangement for Republic Day. The security measures have been intensified, with vulnerable areas in the city being identified following the recent Ram temple consecration ceremony in Ayodhya.
Special CP (Law and Order, Zone 2) Madhup Tiwari outlined the division of New Delhi district into 28 zones, with corresponding deployment of security personnel. In addition to this, various facilities such as missing person's booths, first-aid kiosks, and facilitation booths for visitors to deposit their keys before the parade will be set up at Kartavya Path. The security measures aim to ensure the smooth conduct of the Republic Day celebrations and the safety of all attendees.

To enhance visitor experience and address potential concerns, facilities such as missing person's booths, first-aid kiosks, and facilitation booths for key deposits will be established at Kartavya Path, the parade venue.
Special CP Tiwari emphasized the deployment of various specialized teams, including Quick Response Teams (QRTs), PCR vans, and SWAT teams at strategic locations within the venue and across the city. Elaborate frisking procedures will be conducted at entry points to the venue, ensuring a comprehensive security arrangement.
The force remains on high alert, particularly in areas with high footfall and the bordering regions of Delhi. These measures are designed to uphold the safety and security of the Republic Day celebrations.

Traffic curbs in place
On the traffic management front, stringent measures will be implemented in the run-up to Republic Day in Delhi. Parking restrictions will be enforced at major railway stations, including New Delhi, Old Delhi, Nizamuddin, and Anand Vihar, starting from 8 pm on January 25 until 12 pm on January 26.
Special Commissioner of Police (Traffic, Zone 2) HGS Dhaliwal highlighted that the capital's borders will be sealed for heavy vehicles from 10 pm on January 25.
In preparation for the Republic Day celebrations, traffic movement within the city will face restrictions, with diversions put in place on January 26. These measures are crucial for maintaining security and ensuring the smooth flow of events during the national celebration.
Meanwhile, airports across India remain on high alert. Flight operations at the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) in Delhi will remain suspended for over two hours daily until January 26. There will be no flight arrivals or departures at the Delhi airport from 10.20 am to 12.45 pm every day from January 19 to January 26 in connection with the Republic Day preparations and celebrations.
