16 Dead Puppies Found Stuffed In Plastic Waste Bag In Kolkata, Video Of 2 Women Killing Them Raises Furore
In a heinous crime, seventeen pups were found stuffed in a plastic bag along with a an adult dog who is probably their mother.
It is true that human beings don¡¯t deserve dogs. In the past, nerve-racking incidents of animal cruelty have brought to the fore little or no sympathy for them. The lackadaisical approach to implementing strict rules against animal cruelty have further aggravated the situation.
In a heinous crime, seventeen pups were found stuffed in a plastic bag along with an adult dog-probably the mother. Times of India reported that 15 of the 17 puppies are dead while the dog is in a critical condition.
They were found in this terrible condition from the parking lot of NRS Medical college in Kolkata. The incident came to light when a video went viral on social media. Two women could be seen thrashing the puppies. The puppies can be seen quivering and moaning with pain.

The video was recorded from the second/third floor of a hostel building of a state-run dental college. The dog was also found in a brutal condition with its one eye gouged out. It was bleeding profusely and tore open the plastic bag which was meant for plastic waste.

The remaining two puppies were breathing heavily however, one of them died soon at a veterinary clinic. The incident prompted the police to lodge an FIR.
If the two women are found guilty then they can be imprisoned up to five years under IPC Section 429 for killing or maiming animals. Infuriated animal lovers and activists reached the spot however, they weren¡¯t allowed inside the premises.

The police said that they wanted a proper forensic test to be conducted. CCTV footage is also being checked to identify the perpetrators.
Anita Das Basak who runs an animal clinic in Moulali reached the hospital and suspected that the puppies died two days ago. Since some food particles were also recovered from the bag, the vet believed that there is a possibility that the puppies might have been poisoned.

¡°They could have been poisoned, but the nature of poison can only be known after forensic tests. The puppies and the dog, who could be their mother, had been severely assaulted. The dog has a heavily injured eye,¡± Basak told TOI.
¡°Some people are saying two women who were seen approaching from the ladies¡¯ hostel dropped the packets and walked past the main gate. There should have been many people there,¡± said Prantik Chatterjee, an animal rights activist to TOI.

There are several dogs on the premises and the place from where the carcasses have been recovered is also visited by many people. Different claims were made by different witnesses. However, none of the claims could be verified.
