36 People Who Hyderabad Man Was In Touch With Show Signs Of COVID-2019, Suspected Cases In Agra

Health authorities in Telangana are racing against time to identify everyone whom the 25-year-old techie who was tested positive for Coronavirus (Covid-1) had come into contact with after 36 of the 88 people showed ¡°some symptoms¡± of the deadly infection.

Though none of them have tested positive for Covid-19 so far the authorities are waiting for the test results. Those who showed symptoms include his co-passengers on the bus from Bengaluru to Hyderabad.

The IT professional who works at a software firm in Bengaluru is believed to have contracted the virus while he was on an official trip to Dubai. After his return to Bengaluru on February 19, he had gone to the office before taking the bus to Hyderabad.

The 25-year-old used to stay in a PG accommodation, which he shared with another guy. After he was tested positive, the techie's roommate and several others in the same building have been examined and none of them have so far shown any signs of Covid-19. There are also fears that the bus could have transported the virus to other cities. It has since emerged that the same bus had made several trips to Pune till last week.

The Apollo Hospitals in Secunderabad has asked 20 of its staff to self-isolate for 14 days as they came in contact with the patient who tested positive for Covid-19 when he had visited the OP with symptoms of fever.

Meanwhile, Telangana health minister Etela Rajendar said that the condition of the patient has improved since Monday. He also said that the state government has arranged for a total of 3,000 beds in both government hospitals and private medical colleges across the state.

On Tuesday, six people in Agra had reportedly shown symptoms of Covid-19. According to the authorities, all the six suspected cases depicted a ¡°high viral load¡± during sample testing and the sample has now been sent to the National Institute of Virology (NIV) in Pune for further examination.

The six people who are now quarantined reportedly got the virus from the man who had earlier tested positive in Delhi, after he had gone to Agra, soon after returning from Italy.

The Noida school which the Mayur Vihar resident's children study has decided to shut down for three days as a precautionary measure as he had attended a birthday party along with his child at Hotel Hyatt Regency which also had some of their classmates as students from another school in Noida.

¡°The patient also dined at the restaurant at Hyatt Regency last Friday. The hotel has now asked employees who were present at the restaurant to self-quarantine for two weeks. The hotel is also conducting daily temperature checks for all its employees and contractors when they enter and exit the building,¡± said Julian Avers, general manager, Hyatt Regency, Delhi.

Another case in which Covid-19 was suspected has tested positive. According to the NIV Pune, the Italian tourist who had tested positive in one of the samples in Jaipur indeed has the infection. Following this, some 24 people, including 21 Italian tourists, the driver, and conductor of their bus and a tour guide have been quarantined.
