6 lane Delhi-Dehradun Expressway opens soon: Akshardham to Baghpat in just 25 to 30 minutes
Delhi-Dehradun Expressway: The most awaited 6-lane Delhi-Dehradun Expressway is all set to open soon. This enticing project is now all completed and almost ready for inauguration. Union minister Nitin Gadkari had said in January itself that this Expressway will be operational soon.

It is highly expected that this prominent Expressway will be inaugurated soon. Moreover, once it's been operational, this will eventually reduce the travel time to 2.5 to 3 hours.
- Earlier it was a 6-hour-long journey. It will provide flawless connectivity and smooth traffic flow. This will eventually help out the travellers who are going from Delhi to Baghpat.
Also, as per Union Minister Nitin Gadkari in January 2025, this inauguration will be conducted soon. However, due to some technical reasons, the inauguration was postponed earlier. As of now, the construction work for all phases is now completed, so it's highly expected that the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway inauguration will be conducted by anytime.
Akshardham to Baghpat in Just 25-30 Minutes
The first phase of the expressway, from Akshardham to Baghpat, is a six-lane highway that will majorly cut down travel time. Earlier, the journey took around 2 hours, but with this expressway, it will now take only 25-30 minutes. This will benefit daily commuters and businesses in the region.
Delhi-Dehradun Expressway Route and Key Phases
The 212-km-long Delhi-Dehradun Expressway is being built in four phases:
- Phase 1: Akshardham 每 Delhi, UP Border
- Phase 2: EPE Crossing 每 Saharanpur Bypass
- Phase 3: Saharanpur Bypass 每 Ganeshpur
- Phase 4: Ganeshpur 每 Dehradun
The expressway will pass through Delhi, Uttar Pradesh (Baghpat, Shamli, Saharanpur), and Uttarakhand (Dehradun). It will also connect with the Eastern Peripheral Expressway, improving road connectivity.
Key Features of the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway
This modern expressway has several advanced features to ensure smooth and safe travel:

- 110 vehicle underpasses for better traffic management
- 5 Railway Over-bridges to avoid congestion.
- 76 km service road for local connectivity.
- 16 exit and entry points for easy access.

Delhi-Dehradun Expressway: Toll Charges and Free Section
The Delhi-Dehradun expressway will have multiple toll plazas with toll charges of around ?500 for the entire Delhi-Dehradun route. The toll fees will include ?90, ?130, and ?75 at different points. However, the first 18 km from Akshardham to Loni will be toll-free.
Delhi-Dehradun Expressway: Expected Opening Date
The Delhi-Dehradun Expressway was initially delayed due to technical reasons, but now it is expected to open soon. A small 3.4-km stretch from Daat Kali to Asharodi in Dehradun has already been opened for commuters.
