In a unique Rakshabandhan ceremony, the Aarey Conservation Group members tied Rakhi to the trees in Aarey forest to show how grateful they were to nature for sustaining their lives. Adivasis from Khambacha Pada and Prajapur Pada were also present at the Aarey VIP Guest House to celebrate the forest.

Aarey saw huge protests from the residents last year when Shiv Sena planned on cutting down 1000 trees. With deforestation threatening the natural surroundings, the residents went up in protest to prevent too much damage. Now these dame residents are coming together to appreciate the value of trees on this festival where the one protected thank the protector.
