Ambulance Driver Allegedly Calls 2 Manipuri Women 'Corona Spreaders', Tells Them 'Go To China'
Another case of racism surfaced against those from the North East when a 27-year-old man allegedly launched a verbal attack on two women from Manipur. He accused them of spreading COVID-19 told them to go China because he thought they were Chinese, according to a report in TOI.

It happened in the area of Saibaba Colony Police Station in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. Maria (23) and Jenny (21) were walking on Azhagesan Road when M Vignesh, an ambulance driver came to them them. Initially he was polite and even called them sisters.
But then he asked them why they were walking in that spot and told them to go back to China. They responded saying they were Indians and from Manipur. Vignesh apparently referred to them as 'corona spreaders'.
Jenny added that he assaulted and abused them. He even tried pushing Maria.
¡°I managed to record the incident in my mobile camera and asked him to apologise. However, he denied,¡± she said.
Jenny said this was not the first time something like this has happened.

They lodged a complaint after the incident. The police took the accused into custody and have charged him under IPC Section 506 (i) (criminal intimidation) , Section 4 of Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Harassment of Women (TNPHW) Act and Section 74 (i)(c) of the Tamil Nadu City Police Act.
