While Naidu picked up a roti, seeking blessings for smooth and early construction of the new administration capital at Amaravati, Jagan chose to hold a roti seeking grant of special category status for Andhra Pradesh.
Naidu has given up the hope on special category status and Jagan faces the charge of trying to create hurdles for new capital by encouraging litigations in the name of environment, floods etc. Naidu attended the event on Thursday while Jagan was present on Friday.

As per tradition, the festival is observed for three days starting from Muharram at the Bara Shaheed Dargah in Nellore where the mortal remains of 12 martyrs are buried.
On these days, men and women of different faiths exchange rotis for their wishes.
