As Delhi Continues To Be Engulfed In Smog, Arvind Kejriwal, Amarinder Singh Tweet Over Who Can Fix It
With no signs of improvement in the conditions, the Delhi government has asked all schools to remain shut till Sunday.
It has been three days and there seems to be little to no progress in the situation caused due to smog in and around the national capital.
With the crop stubble burning in neighbouring Punjab and Haryana being blamed one of the biggest reasons behind the rise of PM2.5 in Delhi's air, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has written to his counterparts in the two states to meet and discuss the matter.

In what appears to be is the response to Kejriwal's letter, Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh, in a tweet said that inter-state discussions would bear no fruit and urged the Narendra Modi government to intervene as ¡®Centre can alone solve the problem, given its national implications¡¯.
Share your concern over stubble burning and pollution @ArvindKejriwal, Centre alone can solve the problem given its national implications.

Responding to Amarinder's tweet, Kejriwal suggested that Centre should take the lead and reminded that Delhi is choking due to the pollution.
I agree sir that Centre shud take lead. But pl grant me time to discuss if together we can present a plan to centre. Del is choking sir https://t.co/qMQJX6Y4It

In his response, the Punjab chief minister reminded Kejriwal, the situation in his state too is bad, and reiterated the importance of intervention from the Centre.
Situation is serious but Punjab helpless as problem is widespread & state has no money to compensate farmers for stubble management (1/2).

It is not a matter for inter-state discussion, that won¡¯t help. It requires central govt intervention, at the earliest (2/2).
