Sushma Swaraj was the first woman Chief Minister of Delhi. Swaraj, who served as the fifth Chief Minister of Delhi, had a very short stay in office. She became the Chief Minister of Delhi in October 1998 and resigned from the position in December, after just 52 days.
Atishi Singh is all set to be the eighth Chief Minister of the National Capital Territory of Delhi, replacing Arvind Kejriwal, who held the office since 2013. Atishi, who has been holding the portfolios of Education, P.W.D., Culture, and Tourism in the Delhi Government since March 2023, will be the third woman to become the Chief Minister of the national capital.
Sushma Swaraj
Late BJP leader Sushma Swaraj was the first woman Chief Minister of Delhi. Swaraj, who served as the fifth Chief Minister of Delhi, had a very short stay in office.

Sheila Dikshit
Swaraj was replaced by Sheila Dikshit as the sixth Chief Minister of Delhi and the national capital's second woman Chief Minister. Sheila Dikshit remained in office until 2013 as the longest-serving CM of Delhi. She represented the Gole Market constituency in the 1998 and 2003 Assembly elections and the New Delhi constituency in 2008.

Why Delhi has a new CM
Though Kejriwal was granted bail by the Supreme Court on Friday, the judges noted that he cannot visit his office or the Delhi Secretariat and not sign any official file unless absolutely necessary to obtain the Lieutenant Governor's sanction. This meant that though he was no longer behind bars, Kejriwal could not exercise his powers as Chief Minister.

How long will Atishi be Delhi CM
While AAP has named Atishi as Kejriwal's successor, it is unclear how long she will hold the office. On Saturday, when he announced his plan to resign, Kejriwal had said that he would only sit in the CM's chair when people gave him a "certificate of honesty."
