After a night of incessant rains, froth has returned at Bellandur Lake. Apparently, Bangalore Development Authority¡¯s (BDA) weeding work has failed to contain the problem.
Residents believe that sewage from households, containing detergent residue, is behind the froth.
The Indian Institute of Sciences and other experts back this theory. The need of the hour is to build sewage treatment plant and prevent sewage from entering the lake.

The sewage treatment plants are still under construction. The BDA has resorted to weed removal, filters and sprinklers to contain the problem in the meanwhile.
¡°Till the plants are fully functional, we can only resort to precautionary measure to contain the intensity of frothing and we have been doing so.

Earlier the froth raised 10-15 feet high, now it hardly spills out of the lake due to the work done by the civic body,¡± said a senior BDA official.
Residents apprehend that more rains will worsen the situation.
