In what can be termed as a very daring burglary In Delhi, a man in a PPE kit sneaked into a jewellery store stole ornaments worth Rs 6 crore.
It happened in Southeast Delhi¡¯s Kalkaji on January 19. The thief got in after using a rope to jump over from the adjacent building.
It was revealed the next day when the showroom was opened, reported Indian Express.
The CCTV footage indicated him entering at 9.40 pm and exiting at 3.50 am with his loot.
The manager then called Kalkaji police.
Daring heist
"The burglary took place in the showroom of Anjali Jewellers. One person can be seen in the CCTV but the total numbers involved are not clear. The amount has not been disclosed by the owner so far,¡± a police officer said as per the report.
Delhi Police officials came to the scene and took statements of the employees and security guards.
A police officer said a forensic team is checking for fingerprints. Police have formed teams and are going through the CCTV footage.
CCTV footage shows the burglar in a PPE kit and carrying two bags.
Police said the accused first entered a flat by breaking the lock. He then went to the terrace and crossed the roof of three buildings.
The jewellery store is located in Block H of Kalkaji and armed men guard it.
Wearing a PPE kit makes it almost impossible to identify the man as he cannot be recognised. No doubt that is what the thief had in mind. He decided to use that to his advantage.
As life is returning to normal slowly post-pandemic, even thieves have started to resume their professions at a huge rate. This heist just shows the length they will go to.
