BJP Leader Rows Boat, Children Swim In Waterlogged Streets As Delhi Sees Record Rainfall
A BJP leader 'rafted' across waterlogged streets and children swam on the streets of Delhi. ¡ª clearly, the day was not short of iconic images and videos! According to the Safdarjung observatory, Delhi recorded 94.7 mm of rainfall between 8.30 am on Friday and 8.30 am on Saturday.
Delhi woke up to heavy rainfall on Saturday morning, leading to waterlogged streets and even a flooded airport. The rains brought life to a standstill for many citizens of the national capital, while a few sailed happily along.

The Indian Meteorological Department issued an orange alert for the city and rains are expected in the evening as well. Several streets across Delhi were waterlogged causing disruptions to traffic flow.
This includes Moti Bagh, RK Puram, Madhu Vihar, Hari Nagar, Rohtak Road, Badarpur, Som Vihar, Ring Road near IP Station, Vikas Marg, Sangam Vihar, Mehrauli-Badarpur Road, Pul Prahladpur Underpass, Munirka, Rajpur Khurd, Nangloi and Kirari.

Amid all the chaos that the rains brought to Delhi, BJP Delhi spokesperson Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga brought out a raft and rowed through the heavily waterlogged streets in Delhi's Bhajanpura area.

He said, "I wanted to go to Rishikesh for rafting this year but could not go because of the pandemic. I want to thank Delhi's Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for giving me this opportunity here in Delhi itself, where almost all areas are waterlogged."
Children swimming on Delhi streets
Some roads were so heavily waterlogged following continuous rains in the national capital that children were caught on camera swimming in the fairly deep water that had accumulated.
He said, "I wanted to go to Rishikesh for rafting this year but could not go because of the pandemic. I want to thank Delhi's Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for giving me this opportunity here in Delhi itself, where almost all areas are waterlogged."

With this, the 2021 monsoons have witnessed the highest rainfall Delhi has seen since 1975 when a total of 1,150 mm of rainfall was recorded. Thus, Delhi's 2021 monsoon rainfall is the highest in 46 years! And the monsoon is not even over yet.
