Doctor Dies By Suicide In Rajasthan, Leaves A Letter Urging People To Stop Harassing Medics

A woman doctor, who was booked for allegedly causing the death of a pregnant woman at a private facility in Rajasthan¡¯s Dausa district, committed suicide on Tuesday, police said.
According to police, the pregnant woman died at the hospital run by Dr Archana Sharma and her husband on Tuesday.
Family demanded action against Dr Archana
An FIR was registered against Archana at the Lalsot Police Station after family members of the pregnant woman held a demonstration outside the hospital and demanded immediate action against the erring doctor.

Stressed over the FIR, Archana hanged herself to death, police said.
A suicide note was recovered from the scene, in which the doctor wrote that the patient had died during a normal procedure.
¡°The doctor was booked for the death of the pregnant woman due to negligence in treatment. Today afternoon, the doctor hanged herself to death at her residence above the hospital,¡± Additional SP (Dausa) Lal Chand Kayal said.
¡°The matter is being investigated further,¡± he said.
Doctors stage protest
Following the suicide, doctors in Rajasthan were furious and are demanding proper actions against the guilty for allegedly abetting the suicide.

Dr Ashok Sharda, President of Rajasthan IMA said, "She was a sincere doctor who was also a gold medalist. Every doctor gives their best to save their patients."
Indian Medical Association¡¯s Rajasthan branch has called for a 24-hour medical bandh over the doctor's suicide in Dausa.
In a letter to Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, the resident doctors union - Federation of Resident Doctors Association (FORDA) has sought proper investigation, as well as immediate withdrawal of the FIR, filed against the doctor. The federation has also sought compensation for the family of the deceased - Dr Archana Sharma.
