The revelry continued for about half an hour with several vehicles stranded along the stretch and their drivers playing mute spectators to the bizarre dance drama.
A police inspector, allegedly drunk, was found dancing in shorts and a sleeve-less T-shirt with a friend in the middle of Sheetla Mata Road in the wee hours of Monday. Loud music was playing inside his white Fortuner that was parked on the road, blocking the traffic.
Some local dhaba owners and drivers tried to persuade him to remove his car from the road but the cop flaunted his rank saying ¡°I am an inspector and can dance on the road¡±, and shooed them away.

Later, a police patrol arrived at the spot but the inspector refused to budge and misbehaved with them too. Finally, the police team put the inspector and his friend into their jeep and took them to Sector 5 police station.
The accused cop was later identified as Tarun Dahiya, in-charge of Tauru crime unit in Nuh district, around 35km from Gurugram. Sources said Dahiya¡¯s family lived in the Gurugram police lines and the SUV belonged to him.
According to a report filed by sub-inspector (SI) Sakender Kumar, who was leading the patrol, Dahiya and his friend were found dancing in front of his SUV, which was placed right in the middle of the road, around 1.20am.
¡°We were on regular patrolling when we saw some commotion on Sheetla Mata Road. Several trucks and other vehicles were stuck as a white Fortuner was parked in the middle of road. Local shop and dhaba owners claimed the duo had been creating ruckus there for the past half an hour or so.
When we asked them to stop, one of them introduced himself as inspector Tarun Dahiya. Meanwhile, several truck drivers gathered at the spot and tension was mounting. So as per instructions from the seniors, we brought them to the police station.
But Dahiya kept abusing us and even pulled my hair in the jeep,¡± the read report filed by SI Kumar. For proof, the patrol team also recorded a video clip of the entire episode.

Police sources claimed ACP (law and order) Jai Singh was called in and the SHO of a nearby police station was also present when Dahiya was brought to Sector 5 police station.
The officers had apparently decided to hush up the matter to spare the police department an embarrassment and filed only a report on the matter. And Dahiya, along with his friend, was allowed to go home after a couple of hours.
However, when TOI raised the matter with Gurugram police commissioner KK Rao, he said he had already written to Nuh SP Nazneen Bhasin, recommending suspension of the inspector.
¡°This is intolerable. If a common man had done it, he would not have been spared. Then why a cop, who is expected to be more responsible, should be treated differently? I have sent a report to the IG (south range) as well as the Nuh SP and marked a departmental inquiry against the inspector,¡± said Rao.
SP Nuh Nazneen Bhasin did not respond to repeated calls.
