Flood Situation In Assam Worsens As 63,000 Are People Affected And 143 Villages Under Water
Parts of Assam are reeling under flood as heavy rain has continued over the past three days affecting thousands of people. Close to 145 villages across eight districts of the state are submerged and nearly 63000 people have been affected. Dhemaji district is affected the most in Assam with more than 2200 people affected. Other districts that have been marred by rain are Lakhimpur Biswanath Golaghat Jorhat.

Dhemaji district is affected the most in Assam with more than 22,00 people affected. Other districts that have been marred by rain are Lakhimpur, Biswanath, Golaghat, Jorhat, Dibrugarh, Chirang and Barpeta.
The weather forecast says the situation could worsen in parts of Assam with heavy rainfall predicted over the next five days.

Roads, bridges and embankments have been severely damaged at several areas in these districts.
According to a report by PTI, state authorities are running five relief camps and distribution centres in two districts, where over 200 people have taken shelter.

The Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) has said that about 3,435 hectares of agricultural land has been destroyed.
The situation is as bad in Arunachal Pradesh too. A disturbing cloudburst has stranded nearly 800 people. Many others are reported to be missing.
The Brahmaputra river is flowing above the danger level at Nimati Ghat in Jorhat.
