Dimond merchant, wife become monks
This is not the first time wealthy Jain businessmen or their family members have given up unimaginable amounts of wealth and a life of luxury to become monks.
In 2023, a diamond merchant and his wife gave away their wealth and adopted monkhood. Dipesh Shah and his wife Pika Shah were also following in the footsteps of their son Bhavya Shah, to become monks.
Before renouncing their wealth, the Sha couple used to run a successful diamond business with an annual turnover of over Rs 15 crore.
Incidentally, their daughter had adopted monkhood a decade ago. The couple decided to become monks after their elder son got married.
"When my daughter took diksha, we too wished to follow her path someday. I earned wealth and success, but the search for ultimate peace and happiness never ended," Dipesh Shah had said in 2023.
