Hyderabad: Mother, Daughter Fight Off Two Armed Robbers
42-year-old Amita Mehot and her daughter were at their home in in Paigah Colony when two men claiming to be delivery boys of a courier company knocked on their doors. The two men told the housemaid, who opened the door, they had to deliver a parcel.
A mother-daughter duo fought off two armed men who tried to force their way into a house in Hyderabad¡¯s Begumpet area on Thursday.

The two men told the housemaid, who opened the door, they had to deliver a parcel.
After entering the house the two men pulled out a country-made pistol and knife.
The men threatened to kill the mother and daughter if they didn't hand over their valuables.
Women fight off attackers
But the two women managed to snatch the pistol for the robber. They also thrashed the men who were forced to flee.
CCTV visuals from the spot showed the duo confronting and fighting off one of the armed men.

Both robbers arrested
While one of the armed men managed to flee, the other, identified as Premchand was captured by neighbours who rushed to the house hearing cries for help.
Later the Hyderabad Police also managed to nab the second accused, identified as Sushil.

"Two armed robbers with a country-made pistol and knife entered into a residence in Begumpet and tried to rob and kill the residents. In defence mother and daughter fought them, snatched pistol and chased them away. One robber was caught on the spot and another was caught by GRP police," Rohini Priyadarshini, DCP North Zone, Hyderabad, said.

The mother-daughter duo was also felicitated by the Hyderabad Police for their brave act.

According to reports one of the accused had allegedly visited the victim's house in 2022 on the pretext of cleaning. This time, he returned with one of his accomplices, intending to rob the house. The duo stayed in a lodge at Secunderabad Railway Station and also did reiki at the house.
