Homecoming for world champions
The world champions were welcomed by fans who had gathered outside the Delhi Airport despite the rains in the national capital. Frenzied crowds cheered "India, India" as Team India walked out from the arrivals area with gold medals around their necks.

"We have waited for this moment for the past 13 years. The team has made us proud by winning the World Cup," a fan said.

Will meet PM Modi
From the airport, Team India was taken to the ITC Maurya hotel in Delhi, where they were welcomed by Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Roger Binny and secretary Jay Shah. Later in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also meet the T20 world champions.

Grand celebrations in Mumbai
After their meeting with PM Modi, the Men in Blue will depart for Mumbai for the grand celebratory parade that will be an open-top bus ride at Marine Drive and the iconic Wankhede Stadium from 5:00 pm onwards.

Stuck in Barbados due to Hurricane
Team India, who lifted the T20 World Cup on Saturday by defeating South Africa in the final, was stuck in Barbados due to Hurricane Beryl. They, along with support staff, their families, and members of the media, were cocooned in their hotel before the BCCI made arrangements for the special charter flight.

The Air India special charter flight AIC24WC¡ªAir India Champions 24 World Cup¡ªwhich left Barbados around 4:50 am local time on Wednesday, arrived in Delhi at 6 am (IST) on Thursday after a 16-hour non-stop journey.
