From Being India's Last Village To Becoming It's First, This Northeastern Region Has Come A Long Way
Kibithoo is a town in Arunachal Pradesh located in Anjaw district, on the last road head of the extreme northeast of northeastern India. Said to be the point where the Lohit River enters India, Kibithoo has recently been touted as "India's first village". The region's tall and blue mountains have incidentally witnessed the 1962 war between India and China.
The journey of Kibithoo village from India's last village to now India's first has been quite a ride.
In a visit to Arunachal last month, the Union Home Minister, Amit Shah, urged people to visit the Kibithoo village, which PM Narendra Modi has labelled as "India's first village".
Captured the beautiful landscapes during my visit to Kibithoo, India's first village. Arunachal Pradesh is blessed with immense natural beauty.

Picturesque region that witnessed 1962 war
Kibithoo is a town in Arunachal Pradesh located in Anjaw district, on the last road head of the extreme northeast of India. Said to be the point where the Lohit River enters India, Kibithoo is situated at a height of 1305 metres above sea level on the right bank of the river.
Kibithoo is one of the most remote Circle Headquarters in Arunachal Pradesh and the only Circle Headquarters facing the border of India and China.
The region's tall and blue mountains have incidentally witnessed the 1962 war between India and China. Today it is one of the five officially agreed-on Border Personnel Meeting points between the Indian Army and the Army of China for regular consults.
Touted as India's first village
Commonly recalled as the last village in India, the Central government had a vision to make a conceptual change in the thought process of Indians.
On a visit to Kibithoo on April 10th of this year, the Union Home Minister said, "Earlier when people visited here, they used to say I had gone to the last village of the country, but today, I'll say that I visited the first village of India."
