Lawrence Bishnoi gang working with Indian agents? Canada's serious allegation amid diplomatic row
The Lawrance Bishnoi gang has a strong presence in Canada, with many of its top leaders, including Satinderjeet Singh, also known as Goldy Brar, believed to be living in the country. According to the RCMP, it had evidence tying agents of India to homicides and the use of criminal gangs.
The ongoing diplomatic row between India and Canada over the assassination of Khalistani separatist Hardeep Singh Nijjar took an unexpected turn on Monday after Canadian authorities implied that agents of the Indian government were working with jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi's gang to target dissidents.
'Criminal activities of Indian government agents'
On Monday, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) claimed that it had ¡°learned a significant amount of information about the breadth and depth of criminal activity orchestrated by agents of the government of India.¡±
According to the RCMP, it had evidence tying agents of India to homicides and the use of criminal gangs. About eight people have been arrested and charged in homicide cases, and at least 22 in relation to extortion, and ¡°some of these have connections to the government of India,¡± Assistant Commissioner Brigitte Gauvin said, adding that the RCMP believes there is an Indian government link to the Lawrence Bishnoi criminal gang.
'Bishnoi gang connected to agents of Indian Government'
"It is targeting the South Asian community, but they are specifically targeting pro-Khalistani elements in Canada. What we have seen is, from an RCMP perspective, they use organised crime elements. It has been publicly attributed and claimed by one organised crime group in particular ¨C the (Lawrence) Bishnoi Group. We believe that the group is connected to agents of the Government of India," Gauvin said.

It should be noted that the Bishnoi gang has a strong presence in Canada, with many of its top leaders, including Satinderjeet Singh, also known as Goldy Brar, believed to be living in the country.
Bishnoi claimed responsibility of killing pro-Khalistani gangster
In September 2023, the Lawrence Bishnoi gang claimed responsibility for the killing of Sukhdool Singh Gill, alias Sukha Duneke, a gangster with suspected ties to pro-Khalistani groups. Duneke, a Punjab-born gangster, was a member of the Davinder Bambiha gang and was on the NIA's 'wanted list'. He was shot dead on 20 September 2023, in Winnipeg in what was being described as an inter-gang rivalry.
