Studying in ninth grade, Aarit Gupta, a young genius is not worried about his soon-to-come board examinations. This is because he was busy authoring his first book 'The Flames of Beginning,' a collection of ten fictional crime stories.
At the age of 14, when most children lose their sleep over colossal academic syllabus, Gupta has been brilliantly multitasking.
While he has consistently stood among the top-rankers in his class ¨C on a parallel, he has always been involved in fictional writing. His teachers say, he is blessed with a rare gift, not just to write, but to imagine and make up thrilling stories.
"People say, I should only be studying and worrying about my board examinations. Studies are not everything. I love to dream and weave suspense stories in my mind.
I love writing. Although I have always been brilliant at academics too, but writing is what interests me more than board exams" said Gupta in an interview.
Gupta started writing his first book in February 2018 and within a little over 8 months, he completed it. This exemplary achievement by a young teenager took all his teachers by surprise.
Within no time Gupta¡¯s book had appeared in the list of ¡®Amazon Bestsellers¡¯, in Indian Writing and Literature and Fiction category. Gupta says, he religiously writes from 10 to 12 every night and this is an unshakable routine he follows. It¡¯s during the day, he is busy at school, but he is always imagining stories to pen down before he hits the sack.
While Gupta considers his parents as his greatest supporters and motivators ¨C he draws his inspiration from Chetan Bhagat, Ruskin Bond and British author Roald Dahl. He spends most of his free time reading these authors and taking notes into what makes a great story. He says, Netflix is yet another source of his writing stimulus.
¡°I am fond of watching various crime series on Netflix and it¡¯s amazing to witness how books and novels are transformed into movies. In addition, I get a lot of ideas from watching them. They help me imagine and dream more and more every day. Writing is all about imagination¡± says Gupta.
There is a yet another big thing Gupta is working upon. He has collaborated with some of his likeminded friends to conceptualize a book club in his town Yamunanagar situated in Haryana.
Gupta, a student of ¡®Sant Nischal Singh Public School¡¯ is also planning to seek support from his teachers to form this club. He says, he would like to build a library of books where students and children from marginalized section of the society will be allowed to come and read books, free of cost.
¡°Ours is a small town and I would like promote the art of reading and writing for all children, regardless of their financial standing.
I envision this club will bring all book-lovers together under one roof and help them learn from each other, everyday. Also, now I am inspiring young writers through my creative quotes on my Instagram handle ¡®Alternate Creativity¡¯¡± said Gupta.
Gupta¡¯s book, ¡®The Flames of Beginning¡¯ was bought in fairly reasonable numbers during the recent Delhi Book Fair held in August 2018. Gupta says, he has also been invited to participate and deliver a talk in the upcoming book fair ¡®The Great Indian Book Tour¡¯ being held in Chandigarh. By the end of 2019, Gupta wants to publish his second novel that he is working on currently. He is yet to decide its title.
