The voting for the lone constituency will be held on April 11.

Candidates as well as voters try to make the most of the opportunity that they get every five years. There are many first timers on the block as well. This time, Mizoram will see a woman candidate for the very first time. Mizoram has only one Lok Sabha seat and numerically its a women dominated seat. However, it has never seen any woman candidate before. This time, a woman is in the fray.
The candidate, identified as Lalthlamuani is also a Jew by faith. This makes her the first Jewish candidate as well. Lalthlamuani who is a Jew runs an NGO called Chhinlung Israel People Convention (CIPC) and she is contesting as an independent.
Out of the total 7,84, 405 voters, 4,02,408 are women and 3,81,991 are men. The seat for the general election in the state is reserved for the Scheduled Tribe.
However, the main battle is still between the Mizo National Front (MNF), Congress and Zoram People¡¯s Movement¡¯s (ZPM). The MNF has fielded Lalrosanga and Congress and ZPM have jointly fielded Lalnghingolva Hmar. The BJP gathe ve ticket to Nirupam Chakma, a former Congress minister who joined BJP, a few years back.

An anti-corruption watchdog turned political party People's Representation for Identity and Status of Mizoram (Prism) has T.B.C. Lalvenchhunga. The voting for the lone constituency will be held on April 11.
A by-election will also take place on Aizawl West-1 on the same day as ZPM legislator Lalduhoma vacated the seat to retain the Serchhip constituency. He had contested the assembly election from two seats.
