Titled the Sardar Patel Cricket Stadium, the project is being touted as a brainchild of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. News 18 reported that the foundation stone of this stadium was laid in January 2018.
Renowned architecture firm M/s Populous is designing the stadium while the construction tender lies with Larsen and Toubro. According to media reports, the stadium is being built across 63 acres of land and has an estimated cost of Rs 700 crore.

It will not only house three practice grounds but an indoor cricket academy as well. It will include 76 corporate boxes, four-team dressing rooms and facilities, state-of-the-art club facilities as well as an Olympic size swimming pool.
It can house 10,000 more people than the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground.
Despite the time constraints, the stadium is expected to be constructed within two years. The design of Motera Cricket Stadium revolves around two large seating tiers, each with approximately 50,000 general admission seat capacity; and a huge single patron concourse with 360-degree views of the field.
The architectural design has been finalized in a way where direct patrons will fill the lower levels for smaller events which will help maintain the spectator atmosphere despite the seating bowl not being full.

In a grand stadium like this congestion is evident. To tackle this problem, clear segregation between vehicular and pedestrian movement has been made. Pedestrian flow is also innovative with all vehicular movement on the ground level while pedestrian movement will be on a level above, ensuring clear segregation to limit congestion.
The academy also has access to six indoor practice pitches and three outdoor practice fields. The stadium will be used for community purposes as well apart from local and international cricket matches.
