In a shocking incident, two sadhus from Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan were reportedly attacked by a mob in Dhar District after rumors that they were child-lifters.
In a shocking incident, two sadhus from Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan were attacked by a mob in Dhar District after rumors that they were child-lifters.
The incident happened in Dhannad village of Dhar when the sadhus were on their way to Ratlam from Indore.
On the way, they stopped the car to ask for directions from some boy who was playing on the roadside.
But seeing the strangers the kids ran away fearing that they were child-lifters.
Following this rumors spread in the village that child lifters were travelling in a car and an angry mob stopped their vehicle and confronted them.
Video goes viral
In a video that has since gone viral on social media, the two men can be seen seated inside the stopped car, while the mob attacks them. Some of the mob can also be heard saying that the men are child-lifters.

They later took the two men to the police station.
According to the police, the two men are Sadhus and based on the video of the assault three locals have been booked under various sections of IPC.
Rumors of the presence of child-lifters can be deadly, especially in the villages. Most of the time the alleged child-lifters could be people passing by or those who have lost their way.
Past cases
In February 2020, a farmer was killed and five others were badly injured after they were attacked by hundreds of villagers on the suspicion of being child-lifters in Dhar.
In April 2020, two sadhus were lynched by a mob in Palghar district of Maharashtra.
Chikne Maharaj Kalpavrukshagiri (70) and Sushilgiri Maharaj (35) - and their driver Nilesh Telgade (30) at Gadchinchale in Palghar district, 140 km north of Mumbai.
The brutal attack took place amid rumours that child- lifters were roaming in the area during the lockdown.
