Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has become the most followed world leader on the social media platform X. Earlier this week, PM Modi's follower count on X breached the 100 million mark, the first for any world leader.
"A hundred million on @X! Happy to be on this vibrant medium and cherish the discussion, debate, insights, people's blessings, constructive criticism, and more. Looking forward to an equally engaging time in the future as well,¡± PM Modi said.

Modi has more followers than celebrities
It is not just world leaders that PM Modi has eclipsed when it comes to being popular on X; he is also ahead of global celebrities like Taylor Swift (95.2 million), Lady Gaga (83.1 million), and Kim Kardashian (75.2 million).
PM Modi even has more followers when compared to some active global athletes, including Virat Kohli (64.2 million), Brazilian footballer Neymar Jr. (63.6 million), and American basketball player LeBron James (52.9 million).
