Nation Mourns The Death Of Arjan Singh, India's First Ever IAF Marshal And The Only Five-Star General
It's unfortunate to have this news reported but India's only five-star general, first ever Marshal of the Air Force, Arjan Singh, passed away at the age of 98, on Saturday.
One of independent India's most celebrated soldiers, the warrior who led WW2 Burma campaign, passed away in the national capital in the company of his family and friends.
The Ministry of Defence earlier reported that Mr Singh was critically ill and was admitted to the hospital on Saturday morning following a cardiac arrest. He breathed his last at 7.47 PM. The entire nation is now mourning the death of this great warrior.

Arjan Singh was born on April 15, 1919, in Lyallpur, Punjab (It's now in Pakistan). He was awarded distinguished flying cross in the year 1914 and became the chief of Air Staff in 1964. He remained the chief till 1969.
He was also the only Indian chief to head air staff for the tenure of 5 years.
