The animals, who had begun their journey last Tuesday travelled by road in a convoy of seven trucks, escorted by 16 mahouts and three local trainers.
A team of vets was also travelling along side to keep a check on the animals lest they fell ill during the journey. To prevent exhaustion, the elephants were given ample rest with baths and breaks.

The elephants will be housed in an interim lodging for three months to get acclimatised to the weather conditions. Post that, they will be allowed to go on patrols to regions in Corbett where vehicles can't venture.
The elephants will be kept in a quarantine-like situation where only trainers and vets will be allowed to visit them. "These measures are being taken to ensure that any infections which they might have contracted during this journey are diagnosed in time," said Dushyant Sharma, the senior veterinary officer who travelled with the convoy.
