Over 34 Kilos Of Firecrackers Seized In Delhi Shop, Owner In Custody

More than 30 kg of illegal firecrackers were seized by the cops from a shop in Delhi's Dabri and the owner was arrested, police said as per a PTI report.
Rakesh Bansal was taken into custody after two policemen got a tip of illegal firecrackers being stored in a shop in Raja Puri, Dabri.
DCP Santosh Kumar Meena said that they found 34.6 kg of unauthorised crackers in Bansal's shop.
A case has been under sections of the Explosives Act at Dabri police station.
Due to the rise in pollution and a spike in COVID cases, the Delhi government banned the sale and use of firecrackers from November 7 to 30.
"Reviewed corona situation in Delhi and preparedness with Chief Secy, Health officials and all DMs. Corona cases have increased due to festival season and pollution. It was decided to: 1. Ban crackers in Delhi, 2. Ramp up medical infra, Oxygen and ICU beds are being increased in Delhi govt hospitals," Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal said in a tweet.

Diwali is on November 13. Kali Puja is a day later on November 14.
Diwali crackers have been one of the main reasons for pollution levels to go up at this time of the year. Add to that the COVID factor and the people all over the country are struggling to get through one day at a time.
This restriction won't make things good overnight, but at least it's a start.
