Petrol and diesel prices have touched record highs across the country on Friday i.e. October 1 as global oil prices hover at three-year highs. In the national capital, the petrol price rose 25 paise while diesel inched up 30 paise. This is the third price increase in petrol and sixth in case of diesel since the end of a three-week-long hiatus in rate revision.
Delhi
Following the latest price revision, petrol in Delhi is now retailing at a record high of Rs 101.89 a litre while diesel breached the Rs 90-mark for the first time today and is now selling at Rs 90.17.
Mumbai
In the financial capital Mumbai, petrol price now stands at Rs 107.95 while diesel costs Rs 97.84, data available on Indian Oil Corporation¡¯s website showed. Among the four metro cities, fuel rates are the highest in Mumbai, according to the state-run oil refiner.
Kolkata
In Kolkata, petrol price stands at Rs 102.47 per litre, while diesel costs Rs 93.27 per litre.
Chennai
In the southern city of Chennai, petrol currently retails at Rs 99.58 per litre and diesel at Rs 94.74 per litre.
Bengaluru
Petrol price in Bengaluru stands at Rs 105.44 per litre and diesel at Rs 95.70 per litre.
Hyderabad
Petrol price is a whopping Rs 106 per litre, while diesel costs Rs 98.39 per litre.
Patna
In Patna, petrol is retailing at Rs 104.64 and diesel at Rs 96.40 per litre.
Bhopal
In Bhopal, petrol price stands at Rs 110.37 and diesel at Rs 99.09 per litre.
Jaipur
Petrol in Jaipur costs Rs 108.88 per litre and diesel Rs 99.45 per litre.
Lucknow
In Lucknow, petrol is retailing at Rs 98.99 and diesel at Rs 90.59 per litre.
Thiruvananthapuram
In Thiruvananthapuram, petrol is selling at Rs 104.13 and diesel is being sold at Rs 97.03 per litre.
Previously, the fuel prices had hit record highs on July 17, 2021, when petrol touched Rs 101.84 per litre in the national capital and diesel climbed to Rs 89.87. In Mumbai, petrol had soared to Rs 107.83 and diesel had risen to Rs 97.45.
Auto fuel prices in the country differ from state to state depending on the local taxation (VAT) and freight charges. Apart from this, the central government charges an excise duty on auto fuels.
