A candidate in Bihar arrived to file his nomination for the upcoming panchayat polls on a buffalo on Sunday.
The candidate named Azam Alam is from Katihar district's Rampur panchayat.
¡°I'm a cattleman, I came here on a buffalo because I can't afford petrol or diesel,¡± said Alam.
Twenty-eight flood-affected districts in Bihar will not go on polls in the first phase, according to the notification on panchayat elections issued by the election commission.
These districts are -- Buxar, Bhojpur, Patna, Nalanda, Saran, Siwan, Gopalganj, Vaishali, Muzaffarpur, East Champaran, West Champaran, Sitamarhi, Shivhar, Darbhanga, Madhubani, Samastipur, Supaul, Saharsa, Madhepura, Kishanganj, Purnia, Katihar, Araria, Lakhisarai, Sheikhpura, Begusarai, Khagaria, and Bhagalpur.

A video, shared on Twitter by news agency ANI, shows Alam sitting on the bovine animal while being surrounded by a huge crowd on his way to the nomination filing centre. Alam had a stick in his hand and a man was seen guiding the buffalo towards the centre.
