The Delhi Police has arrested a live-in couple on charges of stealing a car. The accused, Sandeep Munna and Reena, both residents of Palam, Delhi were arrested on Tuesday.

According to the police, the couple was inspired by the Bollywood movie 'Bunty Aur Babli' and had started imitating them.
In the 2005 film, Rakesh played by Abhishek Bachchan and Vimmi played by Rani Mukerji got into the world of crimes by defrauding people to make some easy money.
Took lift, stole car
Sandeep and Reena were arrested based on a complaint filed by the a of Janakpuri alleging that his car was stolen on the night of February 22.
The owner of the car had alleged that his vehicle was stolen by a couple whom he had given a lift.
During the course of the inquiry, the complainant stated that he had given a lift to the unknown couple for help. After giving a lift to the unknown couple, he momentarily left his car for personal reasons, only to return and find it missing. They hatched a conspiracy and took away the car of the owner, who gave them a lift after seeing them in needy condition at night.
The complainant further mentioned that his laptop was also in his car, which was stolen.
How they were arrested
Based on the complaint a case under IPC sections 379 and 34 was registered and a special team was formed for the investigation.
The cops zeroed in on Mann based on CCTV visuals and other digital evidence. They also recovered the stolen car from him.
During the interrogation, the accused revealed the role of his friend Reena in the crime leading to her arrest and the recovery of the missing laptop.
Theft to feed addiction
According to the police, the two accused were addicted to alcohol. Cops said that the two did not have any source of income even to pay the rent, and that's why they resorted to stealing.
