Dead or alive, police wonder
Upon the arrival of the Gorakhpur-bound Hamsafar Express train at Kanpur station, an unusual incident caught the attention of onlookers.
Members of the Government Railway Police (GRP) observed a man lying on the roof of the train, prompting immediate concern.
Initially, authorities speculated that the man might have met with an unfortunate fate, prompting efforts to safely remove him from the precarious position. However, these attempts proved futile.
Subsequently, officers from the Railway Police Force (RPF) ascended the train roof and successfully brought the young man down, taking precautionary measures such as cutting the overhead electric lines surrounding the station premises.

Following the resolution of the situation, both the GRP and the Railway Police Force (RPF) detained the man in question.
Despite the delay of approximately 20 minutes caused by this unusual occurrence, the train proceeded with its journey as scheduled.
Risky endeavour, with possible fatal consequences
The reason behind the man's decision to travel on the roof of the train remained unclear.
The man was identified as Dilip, hailing from Firozpur village in Bindki tehsil, Fatehpur.
When questioned, he couldn't provide a definite explanation when questioned about his actions.
According to BP Singh, the station in charge of the Railway Police Force (RPF) in Kanpur, Dilip embarked on his journey from Delhi to Kanpur perched on the roof of a train coach.
Singh emphasised the grave risks associated with such a risky endeavor, highlighting the potential fatal consequences of coming into contact with the electric lines or causing damage to the overhead equipment (OHE) line.
Consequently, a case has been filed against Dilip under Section 156 of the Railway Act, and he has been taken into custody.
