Gift who has sung and composed songs for movies in Malayalam, Kannada, Tamil, and Telugu was performing at St. Peter's College in Kerala's Kolenchery.
Chief guest insulted by College principal
Gift, the chief guest of the College Day celebration was singing one of his most famous songs when he was interrupted by the principal who also snatched away his mic.
The College Principal reportedly raised objection to another singer performing with Gift at the time.
College principal's bizarre argument
She claimed that artists from outside were not allowed to perform inside the campus. According to her as Gift was the chief guest at the event he was allowed to sing five songs, but the celebrated singer could only perform solo.
She further said that the students who organised the event violated this rule and thus the performance had to be stopped.

Insult to artists: Gift
After this Gift and his team walked off from the stage, without performing.
The College principal's rude behavior toward one of the most famous singers in Kerala, however, did not go down well with the students who protested in front of her office, calling for her resignation.
Later speaking to a local news channel, Gift said it was the first time he had been humiliated in such a way. He also said that he walked off the stage due to the disrespect of artists by the College principal.
Who is Jassi Gift
Gift who made his debut in 2002 became a sensation in 2004 with the release of the Malayalam movie '4 The People'. The song lajjavathiye, composed and sung by Gift is considered the biggest viral hit ever in Malayalam.
In the two decades that followed the 49-year-old has made a name for himself with his unique voice and style across Malayalam, Kannada, Tamil and Telugu film industries.
