Surat Doctor Makes Ganesha Idol Using Dry Fruits & Decides To Keep It At COVID-19 Hospital
Ganesha Chaturthi has been muted due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. People have been advised to stay at home during the festivities and not to take part in huge gatherings. The Visarjan ceremony which usually witnesses a strong crowd every year is also discouraged.
Eco-friendly idols are the way forward for the celebration of festivals. Over the past few years, Ganesha idols made out of bananas, coconuts, chocolate etc have been the centre of attraction. Not only do the idols made out of organic produce minimise pollution, but can also be distributed as prasad.
For Ganesha Chaturthi this year, a woman in Surat made a Ganesha idol using dry fruits.
Dr. Aditi Mittal from Surat in Gujarat made a Ganesha idol out of dry fruits only.
This eco-friendly idol comes to around 20 inches.
The fruits used in the idol are walnuts, peanuts, cashew nuts, pine nuts, and almonds. The face and the trunk is made of walnuts and eyes are made of cashew nuts.

This year's Ganesha Chaturthi has been muted due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. People have been advised to stay at home during the festivities and not to take part in huge gatherings. The Visarjan ceremony which usually witnesses a strong crowd every year, is also discouraged.
The idol made by Dr Mittal will be installed in a hospital that strictly treats COVID-19 patients. Instead of traditional visarjan, the dry fruits from the idol will be distributed to the patients in that hospital.
