UIDAI Introduces 'Blue Aadhaar' Without Biometric Data For Children Below The Age Of Five
The new card, 'Baal Aadhaar' can be obtained by enrolling with the child's birth certificate and the Aadhaar card number of one of the parents.
Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), the nodal agency behind the Aadhaar programme has introduced a new id for children aged below five years.
The new card, 'Baal Aadhaar' can be obtained by enrolling with the child's birth certificate and the Aadhaar card number of one of the parents.
According to UIDAI, the 'Baal Aadhaar' data does not include biometrics information like fingerprints and iris scan.
The Baal Aadhaar will be updated twice, first at the age of five to include biometric data and at the age of fifteen.
According to the UIDAI, the child's school ID will serve as an identity proof for Aadhaar enrolment.
