It was a dream come true for Aditya Srivastava on Tuesday when he was announced as the top rank-holder in the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) exam. Srivastava who is an IPS trainee at the National Police Academy (NPA) in Hyderabad was with his colleagues when the results were announced.

The announcement was met with celebrations by Srivastava's colleagues. In a video that has gone viral on social media, friends can be seen celebrating Srivastava's first rank achievement, while carrying him on their shoulders.

Was praying to God for top 70 rank
According to Srivastava, IAS was always his dream and he was praying to God to secure a rank in the top 70.
He added that it took some time for him to sink in that he got the first rank.
Who is Aditya Srivastava
The twenty-seven-year-old, who hails from Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh, completed his B.Tech in electrical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kanpur and also has an M.Tech degree. He He started his career with Goldman Sachs where he worked for 15 months.
He had electrical engineering as his optional subject in the UPSC exam.
Why UPSC
"It (journey to appear for civil services) started early in my life. Because, in UP, Bihar, it's generally a tradition, people motivate you to get into the civil services. That was the initial push and after that, because of IIT and the opportunity it offered, I went into the corporate also. But, finally, I came back for the civil services," he said.
Aditya Srivastava's key to UPSC success
Srivastava believes the key to success in the civil service exam is to be consistent with the preparation.
"I would just say that being consistent and hard work along with smart work is the key to doing whatever you want to achieve and the same holds well for this field as well," he said.
Aditya Srivastava's family
His father is a government servant, while his mother is a home-maker.
Family members of Aditya were overjoyed with his performance and expressed their happiness.
Aabha Srivastava, mother of Aditya, said, "We are very happy. It is all because of the blessings of the people and God and because of his hard work. His father also encouraged him the most to qualify for the exam."
Shivram Srivastava, grandfather of Aditya, said that his grandson was always a topper. "We are very happy and proud. He was always a topper," he said.
