According to reports, Rajiv Gandhi, aged 23, wed Sonia Maino, 21, in a ceremony held at Indira Gandhi's residence on 1, Safdarjung Road in New Delhi. Notable attendees included then-President Zakir Hussain, Vijaya Lakshmi Pandit, and Sanjay Gandhi.
