Fire has been put out
According to railway officials, there were no reports of any casualties, and the fire has been put out.
Upon receiving information about the incident, teams from the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP), along with the fire department, rushed to the spot to douse the flames, they said.
The blaze was brought under control, but over 150 vehicles were reduced to ashes, they added.
What caused the fire
According to Additional Divisional Railway Manager Lalji Chaudhary, the parking stand was set up for railway employees. Chaudhary added that a committee has been formed to investigate the matter.
Initial reports suggest that a short circuit could have sparked the fire.
Parking lot used by Railway staff
A railway employee who lost his two-wheeler in the fire outbreak said the parking lot used to be guarded by two guards.
"I had an Activa, and I used to always park my vehicle here. This is made for us. This was my main mode of daily transportation, and now I cannot recognise my vehicle due to the fire," Ravi Ranjan Kumar, an assistant loco pilot, told ANI.
Another loco pilot, Shantraj, who lost his vehicle in the fire, said that people like him depended on their two-wheelers as they could be called up for duty at any time.
"We can be called anytime for our duty, and we have to come, so sometimes you cannot get transport late at night," he said.
