A disability rights activist, who was travelling from Mumbai to London has alleged that she was mistreated by a CISF personnel at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Airport.
Virali Modi, who led the campaign to make railway stations disabled friendly, alleged that she was forced to stand up by a CISF personnel, despite telling her that she can't.
The incident happened on Monday when she reached the airport to catch a flight to London.
"I had the most horrible experience with the CISF staff. After scanning my wheelchair, this insensitive woman was forcing me to stand up, even when I told her repeatedly that I couldn¡¯t," she wrote on Twitter.
I¡¯m traveling to London from Mumbai via @jetairways and I had the most horrible experience with the CISF staff. After scanning my wheelchair, this insensitive woman was forcing me to stand up, even when I told her repeatedly that I couldn¡¯t. Pt. 1

She further alleged that the CISF personnel kept forcing her to stand up and went on to say that she¡¯d lift her up and get someone else to pat her backside.
It was only after many denied requests, the CISF personnel lifted the disabled passenger's leg up forcefully, causing a major cramp so painful, that she alleged that her leg went into a spasm.
"She was incredibly insensitive, and this is NOT how you treat a disabled passenger! Every other international airport has chemical strips to check the wheelchair and shoes, a disabled passenger doesn¡¯t need to get out of their wheelchair. So why at Mumbai¡¯s International Airport?" the activist asked.

CISF which rejected the claims said its personnel was carrying out mandatory pre-embarkation security check and she was polite too during the interaction.
The check was carried out as per procedure and any inconvenience meted out was unintentional. Security is of prime importance, at the same time CISF takes care of specially abled / needy passengers in a dignified manner. 2/2

The activist further claimed that due to the pain she had to be admitted in a hospital where they had to give her a narcotic injection for the pain and a muscle relaxer because the spasticity hasn¡¯t stopped.
@CISFHQrs @jayantsinha I¡¯m in the hospital because of the ¡°polite¡± way your CSIF agent behaved with me. pic.twitter.com/oOCKoJqYDB
