Wild boars & nilgais spotted at Hisar airport days before inauguration; official removed ahead of PM Narendra Modi¡¯s visit
Wild animals were discovered near Hisar Airport just before PM Narendra Modi's visit, leading to the removal of top wildlife officials. The Haryana government has taken strict action to clear the area after the animal discovery near the runway.

In a surprising turn of events, wild animals were discovered near the Hisar Airport runway during routine safety checks, just days before PM Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the airport on April 14. This unexpected animal discovery has led to the removal of a senior wildlife official and disciplinary action against another.
Safety checks triggered after President Murmu¡¯s visit
The issue first came to light during preparations for President Droupadi Murmu¡¯s visit on March 9. A safety inspection was carried out on March 6, and the report had incorrectly claimed that the area was clear. However, on the day of the President¡¯s arrival, wildlife personnel had to be deployed to chase away animals that had entered the airport compound.
Following this, a second safety assessment was conducted on March 29, which once again confirmed the presence of wild animals at Hisar Airport. Among the animals seen were nilgais, wild boars, and monitor lizards roaming within the airport boundaries.
Wildlife officers face action over negligence
Due to the animal discovery, the Haryana government took immediate action. Subhas Yadav, the Chief Conservator of Forests (South), was removed from his post. A show-cause notice was also issued to the Hisar divisional wildlife officer for failing to report the accurate condition of the airport in the earlier safety check.
The state government was especially concerned because the inaccurate all-clear report could have posed a serious risk during high-profile visits. The reports were forwarded to the Chief Minister¡¯s Office (CMO), which ordered a complete clean-up of the airport compound.

In response, the CMO directed officials to ensure that Hisar Airport is cleared of all wild animals by April 10, four days before PM Narendra Modi¡¯s scheduled inauguration. Sunder Lal has now replaced Yadav, and along with Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife) Vivek Saxena, he has been assigned to monitor the situation closely. Both have been instructed to be stationed at the airport and oversee the animal-clearing operations.
Hisar Airport preparations are in full swing
With PM Narendra Modi set to inaugurate the Hisar Airport, the animal discovery has highlighted the urgent need for better wildlife control around the airport area. The Haryana government is now working around the clock to ensure the site is safe and secure ahead of the important event.
Authorities are making sure that all safety concerns are addressed, and the airport is fully prepared to welcome the Prime Minister. This situation underlines the significance of thorough safety assessments and accurate reporting, especially during VIP movements.
