Tigers are apex predators and yet they are highly elusive animals. Even in some of the most famous tiger reserves in India, tourists should consider themselves lucky to spot a big cat during a wildlife safari.
But a wildlife photographer recently struck gold, when he captured a tiger attacking a bull in the wild.
Jeetendra Chaware from Hyderabad, the Managing Director of Enviri, recently posted photos of a hunting tiger from Uttar Pradesh¡¯s Pilibhit Tiger Reserve.
Stray bull becomes tiger's prey
According to him the sub-adult bull had strayed into the forest and after spotting it in the wild, they tried to push it back, but to no avail.
" We proceeded to the Pakki Patari (Tar road) between the main Sharda canal and the forest land ¨C and stopped at a place where other vehicles were waiting for a tigress to come out hearing a spotted deer call," he wrote on Instagram.
As they waited for the tiger, the lost sub-adult bull appeared on the same road, and they knew that it could be in danger.
Bull escaped from one tiger
"Our fear came true in few moments later ¨C a giant male tiger (S2) appeared on the road some 100 meters behind this bull. He started approaching the bull. Luckily the bull noticed the presence of the chasing tiger, it jumped and started running towards the vehicles," he wrote.
According to Chaware, the tiger which had made a kill just a few days ago was in no rush for another hunt and let the bull go.
Luck runs out second time
But things did not end there...
As they proceeded, another tiger, from Barahi Range, came across the bull and this time there was no escape.
"He appeared right in front of the two vehicles visible in the backdrop and started running towards the bull. The bull was unaware of Baraahi male's presence. By the time the bull noticed the tiger, it was too late. The action aeries is after the Baraahi's attack on the bull from the backside," he wrote.
