Woman Steals Car At Gunpoint To Impress Relatives At Family Wedding In Delhi

The Hindustan Times reported that the car was stolen from southeast Delhi¡¯s Lajpat Nagar, the police informed. The pistol which was used in the act was also purchased from Raghubir Nagar. 26-year-old Gazala alias Sapna from Chakradharpur in Jharkhand and her associate, Vansh Varma from Sangam Vihar in Delhi were the main accused.
On October 04, a taxi driver from Dehradun, the complainant in the case, Subham Sharma informed the policemen that two women and a man had hired his cab to travel to and fro between Palam in Delhi and Dehradun.

Deputy Commissioner Of Police (DCP), Monika Bharadwaj informed that the driver was robbed at gunpoint on October 03 near the Moolchand flyover. The police then received a tip-off that the duo involved in the car theft will be coming to Keshopur Mandi. A GPS device installed in the vehicle helped the police personnel to trace them.
The officials then interrogated a man and a woman who was travelling on a motorcycle. They were identified as Varma and Sapna, the police said. It was later revealed that the motorcycle too was stolen and a country pistol was also recovered from the thieves.

The DCP told HT, ¡°During interrogation, Sapna disclosed that she belongs to a poor family and was married in 2009. She had some dispute with her husband. She later started living with Varma in Dehradun. She said she had to attend her brother¡¯s wedding in her village in Jharkhand and wanted to impress her family members.¡±
Hence, she carried out the theft with the help of Varma and another friend, Kajal from Roorkee. Sapna further confessed that after the thievery they reached Varma¡¯s house in Sangam Vihar where they altered the car¡¯s number plate. She then visited her relatives and left the car abandoned in Raghubir Nagar.
