Zomato Has Found A Solution To Delivery & Environment Problems 每 Using Good Old Bicycles
Zomato is introducing mechanical and electric bikes into its last mile delivery fleet. Those using e-cycles will make short distance deliveries of 25 kilometres on average. The move is not only good to avoid traffic congestion and parking issues it is also good for the environment.
While e-commerce and food delivery firms are rapidly switching to drones, Zomato has found a way to end delivery woes 每 and also, saving the environment at the same time. The food delivery app has switched to bicycles to get rid of short-term problems.
The firm is introducing mechanical and electric bikes into its last mile delivery fleet. Those using e-cycles will make short distance deliveries of 2.5 kilometres on average, said a press release by Zomato.
The move is not only good to avoid traffic congestion and parking issues, it is also good for the environment.
In India, scooter and motorbikes are the preferred and popular modes for local deliveries. However, with Zomato*s initiative the modes are now diversified. In many countries, bicycles are used extensively for their cost-effectiveness.

Some 50,000 Zomato cyclists are already on the road across 12 Indian cities, with ※(a) majority of the fleet pushing the pedal in Delhi NCR,§ the company release said.
Zomato has partnered with bike-sharing apps like Mobycy and Yulu and Zoomcar*s PEDL, to roll out electric bicycles in the over 150 Indian cities it operates in.
Of late, delivery firms have been dealing with shortage of delivery executives and the move will only expand the pool to hire from.
Bicycles are also way cheaper than bikes and will only encourage more people to join the platform as delivery executives, which also means increased job opportunities. Generally, food-delivery firms in India expect executives to bring their own vehicle.
According to a report by Quartz, Food delivery startups can save up to 20 per cent by reducing dependence on fuel.
