About Pinaki Misra
Pinaki Misra, 64, is a well-known face in Indian politics and law. He began his parliamentary career in 1996 when he was elected from Puri on a Congress ticket. A graduate of Delhi¡¯s St. Stephen¡¯s College and the Faculty of Law at Delhi University, Misra later joined the Biju Janata Dal (BJD). He returned to Parliament in 2009 and served three consecutive terms till 2019. Before the 2024 elections, Misra stepped back from politics. He has two children¡ªa son and a daughter¡ªfrom his previous marriage.
Mahua Moitra¡¯s journey
Mahua Moitra¡¯s political career began after a stint in investment banking. She served as an MLA from Karimpur before becoming a Lok Sabha MP in 2019 representing Krishnanagar. Known for her bold speeches, including one on the "early signs of fascism" that went viral, Moitra quickly became a notable voice in Parliament. Although she was expelled from the House in 2023 due to a controversy, she returned in 2024 after securing another electoral win. Moitra was earlier married to Danish financier Lars Brorson and later dated lawyer Jai Anant Dehadrai.
