The encounter that happened at a time when there was a growing call for instant justice and mob lynching of the accused has raised some questions about the police version of how things unfolded.

The Cyberabad police arrested the four accused on November 29, within 36 hours of the crime. They were produced in the Shadnagar court on November 30 and were remanded to 14-day judicial custody the same evening.
On Wednesday, the court had granted a seven-day police custody of the accused. The police took them into custody on Thursday and had been interrogating them since then.
The four men, all lorry workers were accused of gang-raping and murdering the 27-year-old who was returning home after meeting a dermatologist. The victim had parked her two-wheeler near a toll plaza and when she came back she found one of the wheels flattened. The four accused then approached her on the pretext helping and dragged her to an isolated place, sexually abused her and stagnated her. The later dumped the body near the bridge and set in on fire.
