2020's Largest Drug Raid: 234 KG Of Opium Seized In Chittorgarh, Two Persons Arrested
Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has seized around 234 Kg of opium from Rajasthan, the largest seizure from this year and have arrested two people on charges of drug trafficking.

The capture happened on July 19 from Shadi village in the state¡¯s Chittorgarh district.
A team of Jodhpur zonal unit raided the residence of a person named R Lal and seized around 233 Kg of opium. Another person involved in this MK Dhakad of Bhilwara district has been arrested in the same matter, said NCB Deputy Director (Operations) KPS Malhotra.
The agency has also captured a SUV which was a part of the operation, he said.
What is Opium ?
Opium is a dried latex which is obtained from the seed capsule of the opium poppy plant and it is chemically processed to produce heroin.

NCB which comes under union finance ministry, gives the authorities or licence for its legal production in three states, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh.
In the latest case, the agency found that some legal cultivators of Madhya Pradesh and Chittorgarh diverted the opium through illegal channels and sold it to some middle man for profit.
